Rollin, Rollin, Rollin

Rex learned how to roll over yesterday. So he practiced this all day and even during the night! The problem: He forgets to roll back over. I have to sneek in on my hands and knees and peek over the crib to give him a little push. Otherwise he gets stuck by the crib bars. What a toot!!!

My Holtie's eyes!

Holt has the prettiest eyes. I hope Rex or Ren have eyes like him. They are green and amber.

We love the Oasis!

Lunch at the Oasis actually went good. No fussing!

Cute onesies

These onesies are so cute. They are from cafe press. Rex's says I'm bringing Rexy back, in case you can't read it. He was a little mad at the time. I just typed in his name and found it. They have so many. Thanks mom for the onesies!

Second Night: Great!

It is amazing to me how fast babies transition when you stick to a routine. They went to bed at 6:50 and they are still asleep. It is now 7:00 and they are still snoozing. They woke up a few times and fussed but it was very short and they both fell back to sleep. I hope this isn't just a coincidence. Naps are another issue. They are only taking 45 minutes right now. So we are going to work on that today. I read The Sleep Easy Solution and followed it step by step except for the night weaning part. They did that themselves. Thanks Val, for the book! Oh and Ren has found his thumb now. Hmmm wonder if he is going to be a thumb sucker?

First night- ROUGH!

Rex went to bed pretty easy. Then he woke up pretty much every hour. Ren had so much trouble falling asleep with his arms every where, but when he finally did he pretty much stayed asleep. He woke up a few times crying but fell back asleep. We didn't get much sleep but we are sticking with it. We hope tonight is a much better night. Man! Having two babies is hard. Double the crying. We have two fans in the hallway, and  humidifiers that are very noisy in each room so they don't wake each other up. Now we start with the naps. Ugh!

Challenge accepted

Last night Rex got out of his miracle blanket. We even had an ace bandage around his mid section to hold the swaddle in place. Sounds terrible, but it is just one small piece of bandage. It worked great until he  figured it out. Ren won't stop trying to sit up in his bed and since he is on a wedge his swaddle comes loose as well. So tonight we start sleep training with out the swaddles. Oh man! Tomorrow is going to be hell! I'll be posting to let you know how it is going. We have already stocked our fridge with beer. Our stress reliever! I hope it only takes a few days, but who knows with these boys.

Daycare?????

First let me say that this post is not to bash daycare at all. Ok, I have visited a few daycares lately and I am just now learning that the babies from 6 weeks to sometimes 18 months are in the same room. So if my babies will be 6 months when they go into daycare and they have a nap schedule how are they going to sleep at daycare? All of the daycares do not put the infants on a schedule. So basically they sleep when they can. In a swing, in their crib, where ever they fall asleep. I ask how do these babies sleep in the bright lights with all the noise when they are used to sleeping in a dark quiet room. Everyone has the same answer. " They eventually adjust." Well 6 week old babies are way different from 9 month old babies. Do babies that go to daycare when they are young never get on a schedule until they are older? Is my schedule and hard work going to go to crap? Am I thinking too much into it and it is way easier than I think? I see the older babies have a schedule and the lights go out at a certain time during nap time. What about the little ones?? So this is what I stress about every day now.

Swaddling

Ok new problem. When do you stop swaddling? Both boys do not have good control of their limbs. They flail every where. They are starting to escape the swaddles, but cry when they get out. I have tried putting them in their crib without swaddling them, but it is torture. They move all around. We just bought a bunch of velcro and my mom is sewing it on the swaddles to keep them inside of it. The baby sites say to stop at 4 months. Maybe we should have never started. Ugh! New problems come up every time we solve one. Any ideas?

Help needed!

Well I tried the Ferber method one night with Rex. It was horrible. He tried to put himself to sleep, but every time he took a breath from crying so hard he woke back up and cried harder. It was too hard to do alone, so we are postponing until David is on vacation. I broke him of the pacifier for 3 whole days and then watched David put it in his mouth last night! Oh man! That was all it took and now he wants it all the time. So April 18th he is getting ferberized. So my question is when do you start putting your baby to sleep at a normal time? They are four months now, and can sleep about 6 to 8 hours straight. So do you put them to bed at 7 and get up in the middle of the night, or put them to bed at 10 and let them sleep til 6? The doctor says they should sleep 10 to 12 hours straight, but that just isn't the case right now. Any suggestions? I will take any advice I can get. Did anyone do the Ferber method and their baby screamed for almost 2 hours? Did anyone have a baby that needed the pacifier all night and cried when it fell out. Very frustrating!
